Frequently Asked Questions

What to expect ?

To have fun! Our goal is to work with you and your family to produce a personal, professional collection of story telling, artistic portraits. We want to document your child and/or your family in a relaxed style with a goal of capturing the love between family members. We typically let the children run the show and always start with the largest group shots first. We recommend that you come ready for your largest group shot with everyone dressed the same.

Should I show up early?

We do not recommend that you show up early, as we do not want to have your child waiting for any length of time before their photo shoot. We allot more than enough time for each session as to not run behind schedule. Please come as close to your appointment time as possible. If you are running late please call us at 905-335-9486 to let us know.

How long will the session last?

I typically spend at least an hour with you and your child. It takes time for the child to feel comfortable with me and feel comfortable expressing their “real smiles” as I say. If a session goes over an hour, you should not be concerned. Some children take longer to warm up then others. Newborn sessions take at least an hour & a half or longer due to fussiness, feedings and diaper changes.

Location for the session?

Majority of sessions are in my in-home studio. I am also available for on-location shoots. Session fees are listed on the “Pricing” link.

Best time for the session?

Mornings are always better for little ones, they are fed and awake. I typically schedule children newborn to 1yr in my morning sessions (10:00am til 12:00). If a morning session does not work for you, then late afternoon sessions are available.

What to wear?

For all children, I suggest bringing more then one change of clothes, especially for 6 months and older. You may want to consider bringing your child’s favorite hat, stuffed animal, etc… AVOID logos and the colour red.

For family sessions, I strongly suggest each family member wear clothing that have the same tone, chocolate brown tops with jeans or khaki pants and black tops and black pants are recommended. In the summer/fall months simple white button downs and jeans are a perfect choice!

For Newborn Sessions, We strongly recommend Mom and Dad to bring long sleeve black tops and jeans as well as white long sleeve tops.

Oh, barefoot is a must! So Mom and Dad, make sure everyone’s toes are clean and the nail polish looks good. Just a side note, we let the children run the show. We will always photograph the family and little children first to ensure that we capture them before they have had enough.

Our daughter is getting married on Feb 28th 2015. Could you ship some sort of wedding pkg options and estimates. Do you also provide videography? We have just booked the venue and all will be in one place. Due to the time of year and an evening wedding all pictures will probably be indoors. The venue is Carmens in Hamilton. We are just starting our shopping around so all info is very welcome.
Thank You
Sharyl Williams
